BG/Minmaxboards is back up
« on: January 01, 2013, 08:01:25 PM »
The boards are back up. Nothing to see here.

Original post

Hey, Prime here, mod at MinMax Boards (formerly BG)

Both sites are currently down due to server issues, and it could be a few days before we know the details. In the meantime, the guys at Rule of Cool have volunteered this space so that everyone can stay in contact, and migrate threads if necessary.

This thread will be the primary source for any questions or updates on the situation. There was a thread on GitP, but not everyone at Minmax is active there (and some can't view the site at all).

If you're a MinMax regular:
  • Post here to let us know you've seen this message.
  • Back up your threads (to here or to your hard drive), just in case the originals can't be recovered after this is over. See the spoiler below for info.
  • If you know anyone from MM, point out this thread to them and encourage them to sign up here.

Guide to backing up threads
Quote from: Like so
  • Search for something on the site in Google, including "site:minmaxboards.com" in your query if necessary.
  • When you hover over a search result, a >> should appear on the right. Hover over it, and a preview pane will appear.
  • Click the "Cached" link in this pane to make Google's last trawl of that page appear. Links within the page have a "Cached" icon next to them, and clicking the icon will take you to a a cached version of that link. (this may not work for some links; see below)
  • Copy and paste the contents of the page into a word processor such as Microsoft Word or OpenOffice Writer, and save.

Alternatively, add http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache: before the URL of the cached page you want to see. Not all URLs will work with this though. http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=1795.0 would work, but not http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=1795
If you're confused about the specifics, ask here.

Reposting
In any SMF forum (BG, MM and these boards all use SMF), you can click the "mouse cursor in square brackets" button on the far right of the editor to switch to WYSIWYG mode, after which you can paste in text without losing formatting; this is helpful if you want to repost things here.

I'd like to thank Solo and the guys in charge of this website for allowing us to set up this refugee colony!

And now I declare myself the leader of Min-Maxtown!

Also, I'm using this link to pick up Oslecamo's Monster Classes.  I cross-reference the index to look up the monster classes alphabetically.

Somebody needs to contact the guy and quick.  I'd also appreciate it if other guys can help.  These classes must not be lost to the Internet!

P.S. My Monster Classes are all saved in Word Documents, so they may not be as lost as the others.

I'm pulling my Outcast project over here.

As well as the Nord's Blade and the Naseli.

(Who knows, I might get around to finishing things...)

For the Monster Classes, should I copy everything, including the responses, or should I primarily focus on the classes themselves?

Porting them into the Word Document takes extra time due to additional images and stuff.

Edit: I'm going to ditch everything but the classes themselves and relevant posts.  Those are of higher value than the comments.

So far I've saved Aasimar, Aboleth, Achaierai, Air Elemental, Al-mi'raj, and Anaxim.

Also, some of the monsters can be found on GiantITP: Aranea and Androsphinx.  Those are low priority for me.

Hey, VennDygrem here, checking in.

I always write my homebrew stuff up on my harddrive before posting anyway (copy/pasting to get bits of bb-code in as needed), so my scant few projects are all saved along with the stuff not-yet-fit-for-posting.

For Oslecamo, here are older versions of his monster classes on GiantITP.

Keep in mind that a lot of the monster classes are min-max exclusive, so I'd go for those first if you can't find them on GiantITP.

Red Five, checking in.
(I've been playing too much Star Wars lately...)

Er, yes. Garryl here. I hope my 1001 homebrew ideas don't get lost. most, if not all of the rest of my work is backed up on my computer already. It's that, my WIP threads for PoC and RotM, and the Tomb of Battle stuff that I'll probably never finish.

Here's hoping this can all be resolved shortly.

Kajhera here. Not an epic homebrewer so at least I don't have a lot of stuff to salvage... but I'll check out how that works anyway ... heaven knows I use those references a lot.

Thanks for the gathering place Legend folk.  :)

Anybody know how to contact Oslecamo?  I'd e-mail him the Word Documents if I can.
