They do not. You can see and attack through any creature, friend or foe.

Somewhat. It still serves to emphasize the advantage, and hence tends to give escalating returns to investing in things which modify rolls.

Bell curves can be nice for skills, where a lower variance makes more sense, esp. If gradiated success are in use. But in combat, it really just comes down to success chances, so the fact your distribution of values is a bell curve don't matter  so much as you having a 25% chance to suceeds on the roll. So, it's main value would be in how it affects the probabilities as you vary bonuses.
However, a bell curve is harder to predict. You don't know if they started with a 50% chance or a 25% chance, and the benefit received will vary based on which case. It skews it even more in favor of better stats.
The shallower you make the bell curve, thr les impact this has, but correspondingly the less the curve matters.  Wby use a curve at all if you are trying to minimize it's impact?

General Legend Discussion / Re: New system using Legend's mechanics?

Tracks are definitely a keeper. races and classes are chaff. It needs more support for out of combat abilities. Avoiding locking attributes to specific combat abilities is good.

Bell curves sound nice, but don't work so hot in practice. It amplifies every difference. It makes rolls tend towards the mean, so someone who has a little bit more AC than normal ends up pushing a lot of the rolls to misses, and similarly someone slightly more accurate hits a ton more. The allowable variance in what can be rolled and still remain balanced plummets.

I'll just say this isn't entirely hypothetical

none of it is actually mind affecting. I try to save that for things which are actually mind control

half your strength to damage is barely anything. Its definitely not enough to make someone un-martial.
The athletics skill doesn't use strength for its speed boost, so anyone can take it and be faster

initiative is pretty universal, there isn't anything that makes a martial character want it more or less than a mage. The skills are likewise useful for mages as much as martial characters.

Combat Alchemist not only adds a badly needed non-fury attack bonus (it's an item bonus, but it'll most likely way outstrip your weapon at higher levels) but has several rather painful 'on-hit' status effects that would seem to synergize nicely with the track.

Do you mean Demoman? Combat Alchemist has no item bonuses on attacks.
its one of the effects of liquid courage

should work just fine

Legend Mechanics & Balance / Re: Balancing encounters?
« on: August 05, 2015, 12:25:10 AM »
yeah, I think your issue is mainly one of managing expectations. Legend is not 3.5, and many things that 3.5 doesn't like are trivial, or visa versa. The number scales are different, the battle expectations are different, baselines competencies are different. I don't consider a legend encounter difficult enough to be worth running if there isn't at least one ko, preferably more.

4Legend basically assumes you will heal to full between encounters, and will fall apart if the players don't have that capability. You are far better off allowing parties that don't even have healing to do it that deciding the healing they do have isn't adequate.

yeah, this was written back when low level action denial was more common so its balance needs updating

I suggest sc 2, so fast healing = kdm. it seems o be the most appropriate of the c2s

They get the same spells per scene, but they gain access to their highest circle later. So, they can have a 5th circle spell slot but be unable to cast 5th circle spells with it.
