Legend Homebrew / Re: Monster Manual 2018
« Last post by Koeh on August 05, 2018, 10:36:33 PM »
Despite everything I'm not quite dead, nor have I given up on the project.  I just wanted to show a progress update.  I have 23 monsters completed of 95 planned.  The biggest hurdles was the formatting as usual.  The spreadsheet shows what I have planned, and I hope since I have formatting issues mostly fixed, I can be faster with the next set of monsters.  I'll get on discord in a few days to post as well if that hasn't been disbanded yet.

Legend Mechanics & Balance / Re: Area of Effect - Wedge Ruling Help Needed
« Last post by Vicerious on May 21, 2018, 11:52:39 AM »
A wedge never starts from a square.  The effect creating the wedge may originate from a creature or square.  If a creature, then the wedge originates from a square the creature occupies. Then pick a vertex from the origin square to calculate the wedge.

There's never a D3 and the origin square is not included in the wedge's area.

  • If your D1 is East, then D2 must either be North or South.  That's a diagonal wedge.
  • If your D1 is Northwest, then your D2 must either be Northeast or Southwest. That's an orthogonal wedge.

The wedge affects all squares through which D1 and D2 are drawn.  That's why the orthogonal wedge "starts" with two squares - neither of those is the origin square and  the lines originate from the vertex if the square behind and between them.

Legend Mechanics & Balance / Re: Are combat maneuvers attacks?
« Last post by Vicerious on May 21, 2018, 10:52:40 AM »
What action is required for a combat maneuver differs from maneuver to maneuver.
  • The majority of maneuvers are standard actions, like bull rush, trip, and disarm.
  • The defensive fighting maneuver is a move action.
  • A few maneuvers, like power attack and deadly aim, are free actions.
Making an attack is separate concept from taking the attack action. If you can make 3 attacks during an attack action, you can't replace one with a disarm since both the attack action and disarm use a standard action.

Combat maneuvers are offensive actions for the purposes of ending the invisibility spell.

Many combat maneuvers include making a melee attack as part of the action. These maneuvers would benefit from any modifiers and effects attacks benefit from, such as extra reach, bonus damage, contributing to Chains, etc.
