Sprites of the iconics
« on: November 16, 2013, 10:23:29 PM »
In the past two months, I have gained way more experience at drawing adventurers in the style of Pokemon trainers than any reasonable person should ever gain. (For more details, click here.) Have some pixel people!

God I hate dwarves.
Oddly enough, I think the dwarf turned out the best of them.
Legend contributions: As Above, So Below (rewrite); Reap the Whirlwind, A Personal Touch, Kept Secret, Kept Safe (Professional Soldier); Combat Alchemist (extra track)

Wow; those are beautiful! (Now if only they came in high resolution.  :P)

Oddly enough, I think the dwarf turned out the best of them.

He certainly has the best Pokemon Pose (Poke-Pose?).

If you give us an Erin sprite I will love you forever.

This isn't really the place to say it, but man I love the barbarian illustration Legend chose. It looks super cool, but it's not the boring overdone barbarian that almost every other system uses.

And you did a great job putting it into sprite form.

Thanks, all of you! And I love Camilla's design too--she was probably my favorite to make.

If you give us an Erin sprite I will love you forever.
Working on it! She looks demented, but the real one kind of does too, so I guess that's okay.

This may be the best thing I've seen all day. (I'd say all week, but I've had a pretty good week, so yeah. Best thing I saw last week, maybe? Ignoring that I didn't see these last week.)

The point is that these are amazing. The fact that we only have one pose each for the iconics makes the Pokémon-style sprites fantastically appropriate, since trainers only have one pose anyway. Not that you didn't know that or anything. Just that I see what you did there.
I do verb now and again, but gerunding is my real passion.

There are some other sketches of the iconics in the PDF, although they're smaller and less illustrated. Not making up my own poses was more about making it easy than anything else, really. (I haven't decided whether I prefer making my own characters and designs up from scratch or having other people's to work from but having to worry when they're off.)

And to finish up:

I think it's clear that this point that I just hate short people. I'm pretty pleased with Harbinger, though.

So I'm hoping to release those sprites in a free roll20 pack (with credit, of course). I asked about this in the IRC room a while back, and got a positive reply, but I don't remember who from and I've never really spent enough time in #Legend to figure out who's who there or who's authorized to give that sort of permission. And roll20 would probably want this somewhere where they can see it in any case.

At the moment, it's my understanding that Jyn is okay with sprites of her iconics, and we're okay with non-profit creative stuff as long as it isn't stepping on the original artists' toes. Hold off for the time being on sprites of iconics that aren't Jyn's while we clarify it with the other artists. Thanks.

(And unofficially, they look awesome.)
